BMW 8th popular with high-earners in GB

Read the entire article here http://www.worldcarfans.com/8070822....h-high-earners

Porsche most popular with high-earners

Porsche is the car of choice for Britain's 'high earners' according to online insurer swiftcover.com. The 2007 'Rich Car List' names the exclusive brand for the second year running as the 'most likely' marque high earners drive. But while it's more than fathomable that a Porsche appeals to the 'wealthy', manufacturers that surprise more include BMW ranking at number 8, below Saab and Jeep, and only marginly above the respectably-ranking 9th place city car manufacturer smart.

Based on more than 2.7 million recent online quotes, the firm has compiled a list of the top 10 'most likely' and top 10 'most unlikely' marques that those in the high-earning income (£43,000 pa) bracket own. The rest of the figures speak for themselves, however it is interesting to note that Mercedes have slipped one place from the previous year, with Jaguar gaining ground despite a troubled range and turbulent times ahead. MINI is also ranked surprisingly low, taking the crown as the 3rd 'least likely' vehicle for high earners......

$86k USD is considered high-earners?
Direct conversion of course, otherwise it would be lower...

Jeep/Sabb? Wow.

Another inaccuracy - Jaguar should be under Daewoo not Porsche.

Jaguar? Saab? Lexus? Jeep? This has to be some sort of european bias. The same results, here, would be laugable.

I like Rover as one of the least likely for high earners. Oh how things must be different it us over there. I mean rover is a prestigious brand over here at least the range rovers. Too bad we dont get the defender.

These guys are obviously spending all their time earning the money and not researching what to do with it. Your average nerd banker I assume has no clue about cars.

Rover haven't even existed for the last couple of years, and even before they went bankrupt they certainly weren't seen as a premium brand. More an old fashioned car manufacturer.

They have nothing to do with Land Rover or Range Rover.

I guess BMW killed them after they lost their shirt trying to sell rovers over there...... BMW owned both, and sold off the crummy car maker before selling the SUV stuff to ford

total shite interpretations...

Of course what you guys don't understand is that these are the results of insurance quotes of one of UK's low end car insurers... so the people who are looking to use these guys are at the low end of the market. Their definition of hi earners is in relation to the market they serve.

Actually, in terms of UK's best selling family sedan, it is the 3 series. It even outsells the Ford Mondeo by 2:1. The 3 series is now ubiquitous... and isn't regarded as a premium brand until you get into the upper regions of 5\6\M series. 7 Series is perceived as a barge.

Wankard.....

depends on age group too. I certainly don't value Merc > BMW.

The current BMW range is becoming more and more uninspiring, imo.

I have to agree that I see the 3 series-older and newer-everywhere! I didn't realize how many people have them.

After I read this article, I started to pay attention to how popular BMWs are around town and I started seeing them left and right. I practically saw more BMWs than Lexus.

Many of the Merc-Bs I saw were E-class, ML and S, but those weren't as common as BMs.

Depending on which type of city you live in(metropolis, suburban, urban)I'm sure your observations will differ greatly but from my perspective, it seemed that late model entry-level BMWs were very common.
