Heat Under Steering Column?
Hey guys, hope everybody's M is bringing happiness!
I recently put the M3 back on insurance and started daily driving it after 9 months in the garage. The car runs great but there are a couple of things that are bothersome. 1) I think I'm running two year old DCT software so I probably need to get that updated as soon as possible, Monday to be exact. But what I've noticed is, when I'm driving at anything above 30+ mph and have the revs on the higher end, (4,000rpm+) and floor it I get a little "bang/punch" coming from the rear diff that I don't recall having before? I just want to make sure this is normal and not anything to worry about. 2) The most bothersome part of my M3, is the amount of heat coming from under the steering column/footwell area. There is a tremendous amount of heat coming from there and it makes driving really uncomfortable. I tried turning on the A/C and directing it to the foot area but only hot air blows through the vent. I want to make clear that even when the air is not being directing to the feet, it is still extremely hot! Any ideas on what it could be? I understand that some people have a really hot center console at times, but mine is really cold and never gets warm. Thanks, Sandy

I definitely should have been driving it, but I thought I would hate putting 500 miles a week on the car. But that has changed, and will start to DD the M!

In the summer here my foot-well can get annoyingly hot. Just chalked it up to "because race car".

Pretty much.
At lower RPMs its cool, but when I push it, things start to get a little warm. |
