DCT Transmission Leak- Advice Please.
Went to top notch Dinan installer to get racing rear toe link installed (too early for verdict on it but it seems to make the car feel more "of a piece") and was told they saw a small amount of transmission fluid(DCT) under the shields. Only 4 weeks left on warranty- taking it to BMW in 12 days- any advise would be great- if they say it's fine now will I have any standing after warranty is expired because I complained now? Can DCT fluid level be checked? How do I know if any transmission damage has occurred if it is low- even if say they fix a seal? Damn car was perfect till now!

You have to remove the shield and have a look at the transmission. The DCT oil pan is made out of plastic and is quite fragile. I hit a small rock once and it ripped the thread of the drain plug. Had to replace the entire oil pan. The dealer was nice enough to replace it under warranty for me .
I also read on this forum of the hose attached to the transmission were leaking. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=720296 Better get it checked before your warranty expires. |
