Lease rates

Where can I find lease rates on the Z4? I'm looking at a 2006 that is sitting on a lot as a new car still and I'm curious as to what lease rates they will use and would I be better off looking at a 2007?

Thanks

Depends on whether BMW is subsidising rates at the moment. Also, each dealership will have its own banking relationships in addition to BMW so rates can vary from dealership to dealership.

Just call the finance guy/girl and ask what their rates are today. You can also get a lease directly from your bank; however dealers have more incentive to "do the deal" and can play with the cost of the car to make things work. They make money on the financing part so that augments their yield on the overall deal as well...make 'em work for you

Good luck!

On another note how happy are you with your Z4? I was looking at them and think they may be a fun little car to have.

I personally love my Z4. It is my daily driver and I have also taken it to auto-x as well. It is a great combination and it is tons of fun to drive.

If you are going to go get a lease, rates aren't the only thing you should be looking at. I am pretty sure they still have a $5,500 dealer incentive for the 2007 models, and probably the same for the 2006 models. They should really be trying to move a model that old off the lot so you can probably get a killer deal.

OK here is the scoop - just talked to a local dealer and this is what I came up with. I think he's still holding back quite a bit.

I found these numbers from 2007 lease rates

2007 BMW Z4 Convertible 3.0i
24 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 73% of MSRP – .00150Base Money Factor

When I talked to the CA he stated that there was a $5,000 rebate.

I'm doing the math in my head and well it just doesnt add up.I don't see where the rebate was applied. He said they raised the MF due to to the rebate and the residual is higher than it was at the begining of the year.

Here is what he sent me

Quote:
64% residual
.00330 Money Factor (includes increase for sec dep waiver)
VA taxes included
10,000 miles per year
36 months
$499 payment
$2,000 total out of pocket due at signing

Description MSRP

Model 0728 Z4 R 3.0i 36,400
Color 300 Alpine White N/C
Upholstery LAT5 Dream Red Leather 1150
Options ZPP Premium Package 3550
399 Fully automatic soft top N/C
430 Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors N/C
459 Power front seats with driver seat memory N/C
493 Storage package N/C
534 Automatic air conditioning N/C
609†Navigation system 1800
639 BMW Assist with Bluetooth System N/C
205 STEPTRONIC automatic transmission 1275
494 Heated front seats 500
4AD Brushed Aluminum trim N/C

Net Total 44675
Destination Charge 775
Total Suggested Price 45450
Someone help me out here this car is in SC on its way here. Also I only wanted a 24 month lease as well

*EDIT - I just got a response back saying that if I went from 36month to 24 month Payment goes up to $569 and the residual is 68%? That doesnt sound right...

Why would he have bumped the MF up from .00125 to .00330?

Once its changed from a 36 to a 24 month lease I should be looking at a 73% residual right?

Here my gift to you:

http://www.leaseguide.com/leasekit/worksheet.cfm

Use that and you will see were all your numbers go, best way to deal with the dealer...he won't screw you with this on hand.

Tell me how it goes.

Road Eagle thanks! I've used leaseguide before - great tool!

I understand for the most part where all the numbers go and how they effect the overall price. I just can't understand for a car that is starting to pile up on lots is getting so much holdback from the dealer.

Would I be totally off by asking for the captive lease rates of a 73% residual and .00150 MF with the current price of $38,500?

He said they "were" offering a subsidized MF but have since changed it to a rebate of $5,000 which I'm assuming is in the reduced price of the car.

You can ask for that, but the average residual for that car is around 60%, also, they want to make money on the money factor cause they are not making on the incentive, that's why they want to put the money factor at 7.92%.

Negotiate the total MSRP, and ask them how much they want to make on the car. I think you can try on .00150, but they are not going to make much on it, unless they are willing to loose. I would say it's off.

Why don't you buy a CPO?

I was looking into Leasing, but found a CPO 2005 with 7,000 miles on it. Warranty up to 2011. PP,SP,SWheels.

They have over 25 07 Z4's on their lot I would think they'd be willing to deal on one of them.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=178329

So what are these numbers all about? They show a 73% residual on a Z4 3.0i. The M's have a horrible residual - which is why I don't want one.

Here are the average residual values for the Z4.

http://www.leaseguide.com/leasekit/residuals.cfm?mode=1

Based on the chart they are giving you a good residual value. 68%

Why would he have bumped the MF up from .00125 to .00330?

Cause they are loosing on the residual and the incentive. they want to make there money on the MF

00125x2400=3% to .00330=7.92%

Yeah, but they are making there $$ on the MF. Try to lower the MF and maintain that Residual Value.

Thats what I'm going to try and do. They still are making money on the overall price of the car. I'm sure they got more of a rebate from BMW than they are passing on to me.

CA RESPONSE

You are obviously a very informed consumer. But, you have outdated information. The numbers you are looking at are from July. That was before the trunk money. I will be happy to show you the September bulletins from BMW FS.

The posted residual for 24 months is 65% and the bump for 10K takes it to 68%.

The posted subvened rate for September is .00275. Taking the 40 point bump, it makes it .00315. The bump for waiving the security deposit is .00015. That is where I got the .00330 number. The programs are national programs.
