DIY request: modifying/customizing exhaust hangars
I have Berk resonated mid-pipes on my N55 and they are driving me INSANE.
I love them, but because they are wider than the stock mid-pipe, they knock against the subframe directly under the passenger seat and it is amplified in the cabin. Usually only happens when I hit a: massive pot-holes or b: rough/pock-marked roads For my own sanity, please help me |

They will bend readily if heated to cherry red with a torch but you probably don't have a torch (oxygen/acetaline rig). An exhaust shop would. Make sure they take them out of the rubber hangers first. Like most things, with the right tools it isn't difficult.

I used a high temp torch to re-angle the exhaust hangers. Got rid of the contact i was experiencing. You will need an exhaust hanger removal tool though. The one i got from a local NAPA shop has served me well.
