Headlight Condensation/ Dim angel eyes Question..

I just purchased a 135i 3 days ago finally upgraded the e46
I am having two headlight issues
1. Both housings are getting a small amount of condensation in them when a good rain storm comes around.
2.the outer ring on m angel eyes on both sides are not as bright as the inner ones?

It is a 09 and the angel eyes have been upgraded by the previous owner.
i have done this in the e46 and know for that car i had to bake the headlights to put the new rings on and do that whole process. Is it the same for the 135? from what i have seen on videos and so on it seems like just a bulb switch on the 1? Is there a good write up on this?

Any ideas on what this could be would be great help.
Thank you

I believe the outer ring will always be dimmer by design. You can try using a brighter LED system that uses 8 LEDs such as the Lux Angel Eyes. Most of the cheaper AE upgrades use 4 LEDs.

As for the condensation, the day I picked up my car from the dealer I noticed some condensation in the housing. I'm not sure if it was from a mixture of them washing my car, the rain that day, and the humidity in Hawaii, but I haven't seen it happen again. I did take some photos which I'm going to show my SA when my Performance Exhaust comes in.

Thanks for the reply and the info its good to know that the angel eyes are not just broken and like that by design. As for the condensation the amount i get is comparable to the pictures you have posted so i dont think i will worry to much about it. may just through a couple silica packets in there for the hell of it.

Same thing happened to me. The day I picked up my car from the dealer with 3 miles on it an drove home there was slightly condensation developing in it just like these pics. I drove back to the dealer and showed my sales guy just in case anything ever happened so there was a record of it. But it's never happened again except for one other time that first week. And yes the inner angel eye will always be brighter because the bulb is actually closest to that ring. The outer ring shares the light from that same bulb and is directed to it by glass tubes so by the time it reaches it its a bit less intense.

I'd loosen the covers and point a fan at them overnight, get as much moisture out as possible. It won't bode well for the electronics inside to leave it in there. More often than not it's caused by some water getting in due to not getting the covers back on correctly.

This is a common problem when the AE's are swapped out or you open the headlight cover. Open the cover back up and make sure that the seal around the housing isnt broken and then make sure you install it properly. If it isnt sealed completely or there is a leak, you will get condensation.
