thinking about e85...hesitant.

has anyone been running e85 50/50% or 25/75% for more than 2 years?

if so, have you had any issues?

what did you do to mod your car for e85?

what tune are you running etc...?

the power gains are obvious, but in terms of longevity/internal issues, i am concerned about what cannot be seen to the naked eye...

educate me!

Threads on threads about it. Dinan doesn't seem to tune for it so your first step would be to get pro-tuned for e85 via cobb or jb4 auto tune map (which I personally use). 50/50 isn't going to give you any power, maybe sap it with stock fueling. You need an upgraded LPFP at the least to run that e85 content. Sweet spot for stock fueling seems to be in the low to mid 30s. As far as your injectors and your fueling system, it's up to you and depends on what you're willing to sacrifice for extra ponies. Do I think e85 is corrosive to fuel lines? No. Do I think it strains the fueling system? Yeah if you put in e50. I got a warranty to cover my fueling system. Get a cobb AP, get an e85 file and log your injector duty cycles and post-shift AFR to get a bead on how your system is taking things.

what about running e85 at like 25% without an additional tune? would it give a little power boost?

No because your computer has no idea how to discern e85 from 93 octane gas. It can't sniff the difference, it just can jam more into the cylinders because of the higher compression rating found in e85. The point of the tune is to compensate for the stoichiometric AFR of e85, which is like 9.76:1 to conventional gasoline's 14.7:1.

You need to get atleast a JB4 with Flexfuel wires, Dinan will not support the e85 and you really wont get the true potential of it with the Dinan. With the jb4 I am pushing close to 370hp with FBO and E85 . I just did the upgrade to my car, my friend who installed it explained that e85 needs more fuel delivered to the engine so the wires trick the fuel sensors to deliver more fuel. It is also recommended you run 3 - 5 gallons of e85 and 91 octane on top of that. You definitely need a tune that supports e85, I ran 2 gallons on my car prior to tune and it did absolutely nothing.
