Conti's replaced with Michelin Super Sport
After extensive research (on this board and elsewhere), and reading many reviews, I opted for a set of Michelin Super Sports to replace the original Conti's on my 2011 with 10 500 miles. The Conti's were a very good tire, but I was down to the bars on the rears at this mileage with no track time at all. My goal was to be out of the door at under $1 500 with a tire lasting > 15 000 miles. Unbeknownst to me (at the time of purchase), the Michelin's come with a 15 000 mile warranty on the rears, and a 30 000 mile warranty on the fronts. Tire Rack delivered the tires with shipping for $1 135.52 with Road Hazard Warranty for an additional $94.88. I spoke to my local BMW dealer (who is fantastic BTW), about fitting the new tires and the quote for fitting, balancing and alignment was $265 out the door. I decided to get the job done at the dealer as I knew that they would take care of my rims, and I was correct, not a mark, gouge or blemish (as it should be) could be found post fitment. My total outlay was $1 495.40, within my goal, and well within if you consider that Michelin will be sending me a $70 Visa Gift Card! I don't have anything against the Conti's, but those would have cost $ 1 436 before Road Hazard and fitting, balancing and alignment, added to the fact that they are a 10 000 mile tire.
I also wanted to reach out to those board members who take the time to post reviews on the Bimmerpost. It makes decisions like the above a little easier when faced with a, potential, $2 000 decision! |

I ditched the Contis as soon as I picked up from the Performance Center. A little over 1500 miles on the Contis -- thought they were fairly grippy but noisy and harsh. PSS seems to handle much better, and is worlds quieter. Goodbye road noise... I can hear my exhaust much better now.

I too just moved from PS2 to PSS. PSS are quieter and seem to have more grip. Hope they last long. As a bonus, PSS comes with free towing to local Michelin dealer if you get a flat if you don't have other means of towing.
