Wife's new 128i

I traded in my 2006 330i for a 2011 CPO 128i with sport and premium packages. She really didn't like driving the 330i - she found it to big to park and couldn't easily reach the pedals (she's only 5'1").

We picked up the car today and went for a drive on some curvy back roads. Here are some more impressions:
  • The size is just perfect
  • Very nimble and fun to drive, much more so than the 330i
  • It's much easier for her to park in our small garage than the 330i
  • Heated steering wheel is great
  • Engine sounds great - louder than the 330i (which I like)
  • Engine feels smooth right up to the 7000 rpm redline, with no dip in power
  • It's feels faster than the 330i
  • Pedals are perfect for heel and toe
  • Feels more solid than the 330i, as if it has more torsional rigidity, being smaller with only 2 doors

It's a 6SPD! Your wife is da bomb!

Nice strategy there. Tricking her into letting you get her the FR-S and then baiting her to get another cool car while you keep the original deal Smooth brother, smooth.

Nice! Wish my wife knew how to drive a manual. But its probably the only reason I got a 135i. I had to find a fun auto that we could both drive.

Funny my selection was between the frs and 128i as well. I went BMW, no regrets. Where do you track your frs since you said you've been modifying it?

saw the car

Saw your wife in the car; tell her the wheels really need cleaning. Looks like she can really handle the car and a manual tranny.

I'll tell her, but she will say it's my job to clean the car! I will get it detailed and Opti-Coated in the next couple of weeks.

Nice looking car. I have its twin except it's a '10 w/ beige interior. Great ride, enjoy it a lot. Sad to be putting it away next month but the car's happy about it.

Thanks. My wife will be driving it through the winter - we're getting Blizzaks installed on second set of rims.

Looks like a great event! I will try to convince my wife we should go for a road trip next fall (and just happen to stumble across the show and shine, lol)!

Where do you guys service you cars in Ottawa?

Servicing

I do my own oil changes, filters, brake fluid flushes. My brakes are good but will be changing to Cool Carbon. Likely next year will change tranny and diff fluid. Otherwise I would use a BMW independent, either Perth, Stittsville, Westboro, Little Italy or Buckingham.

Thanks! I went to Duss Brothers in Westboro for an oil change and to remove the clutch delay value - shifting is much improved.

Nice. I like the 128i's with chrome trim

Thx for the FRS comparison.

Any q's about 128i mods, PM me or reply here.

ideas
$5 clutchstop from BMS/burgermotorsport ebay page is worth it with CDV ( remove 1 washer)
glue a Phone mount into the removable cup holder maybe
Polish eyelids from ebay
