Shopping for used M3, what to look for?
Okay so I am looking at a bunch of M3's, some CPO, some non-bmw dealers....i found a 2011 e92 coupe with some light mods on it, 25k miles, loaded, but had a tranny replaced at 20k....bummed out a little, but still considering it. local south NJ car (anybody knows who possibly owned it? Tinted front windshield and entire car, megan racing exhaust, JB, CF grills, BMW perf wing), at a Chevy dealer currently.
Back to my main point.....ive heard most folks SC these newer M's then return them to stock and sell, some folks wreck them and fix them off insurance then sell, could be all bs but what should I look for when shopping an M? Need some tips. Also, if you are selling an e92M let me know!!! lol Thanks |

If the tranny was replaced then whats your hesitation? If it was opened and repaired it would scare me away. If you want something already modified then shoot some of the sponsors here a PM (like ACM or MAC). They usually know about one or a few different Ms for sale since they work and perform maintenance on them. Probably your best bet for a nice transaction.
As far a car thats been resurrected... its the same as always, check any possible info on the car and inspect all the lines on the car and basics for traces of body work. |

Bought an M3 in April, didn't get a PPI or do much research... the car is currently on a flatbed. My advice is buy from an enthusiast on a forum, or get a CPO.

Yes, do a PPI. Unless from a fanatic or someone whom you get to know here, I would personally go CPO. You can also get an ext'd warranty. Overall, the M is a solid, wonderful car. You know the basics to check for.... and remember, a carfax does NOT always tell the entire story. Hence authorized PPI.

I would 110% get a PPI. We always have M's available if you wanted to discuss us finding the car for you. Shoot me a PM or email and I can give you a breakdown
