A way to justify CA (or not)

At the risk of being captain obvious (with flame suit on) I decided the only way to justify buying CA is to divide the number of items I'm getting in the package by the price. I added top and side cameras because...why not? Then it becomes a simple question of would I pay $X for that item? Yes or no.

Executive package for M4: $4000
Top and side view cameras: $750
$4750/8 items=$593.75 per item.

So for each item I ask the question. Would I pay $593.75 for this?

248 Heated Steering Wheel NO
322 Comfort Access keyless entry YES
3AG Rear view camera YES
502 Retractable headlight washers NO
508 Park Distance Control YES
610 Head-up Display YES
655 Satellite radio with 1 year subscription NO
5DL Side and Top View Cameras YES

Overall, that's 3 NO's to 5 YES's. That's a democratic way of looking at it. Majority rules! YMMV

You turned the Top/Side view camera, an option that is $750, to $593.75. On the UK site, you can see heated steering wheel is only £155, Comfort Access is £495, Reverse Camera is £330, and the HUD is £825. Averaging them all out is a weird way to look at it.

Maybe you could try adding the CCB option into the mix and see how that goes :-).

I agree, but since we cant order these things separately like the UK can, it's the only way to look at it.

Scratch review view camera off of my list or any other camera for that matter. Not once used it and / or like it.

I love the glass half full nature of your post but it has one issue- who needs a rear view camera and PDC? That makes it 4-4.

I have to admit I am still not used to how big my F30 is. A rear view camera is not necessary but it would sure be nice to have sometimes.

So, if it's 4/4 then it's a coin toss. I'm so confused.... . I love the HUD and CA in my F30. It would be a shame to buy a much more expensive car that didn't have them.

Love the optimism, spending $7K is actually quite common. I am one of those people that love rear view cameras BTW specially when parking in SF, they are going to become mandatory for future vehicles also

How much is comfort access on the other BMWs if you don't buy it within a package? Once you figure if you're getting leather (I would assume a large number) well, since the leather is free with the Exec pkg, that's basically $950 off of the $4,300 price tag (M3) or $4000 (M4). So you are really looking at paying $3300 to get the other goods (HUD/CA/PDC/REARVIEW) so that isn't as bad...

I pretty much agree with your option assessment, though I don't see with cameras all around why you need PDC as well?

Everything except 5DL is bundled into the Executive package so I have no option. I actually want PDC though.
