Remote Front License Plate

Has anyone installed something like this? Doubt it would fit under the bumper, but with modifying the bottom grill, there should be space.

I've installed one on one of my cousins vw and it's a pretty straight forward install. It takes up too much room though and you can still see it. They also have a non motorized version

It works great until it gets mangled by road debris.

I agree. I use the non-mechanical one and replace it about once a year, snow, debris etc.

Cool, is it called "the Schwing Plate"? Do you hit it when there is a hot car/hot driver in front of you? Schwing!
